Default Badische Uhrenfabrik (Baduf)

An earlier little toy that we picked up was this little tambour with a Baduf movement. I'm not sure of the date but the style suggests the 1930's and 1940's, but, again, I'm not sure at the moment, how that correlates with the dates of Baduf. I need to use the Search engine here. The 8-day movement is signed Badische Uhrenfabrik GMBH, Germany, and on the clock dial is the word Silvretta. Perhaps the shape of the clock was meant to suggest the Alps. Anyhoo, I walked by the clock on 2-3 previous visits to the antique store and finally coughed up the $25.00 asking price (less 10% store discount). It was missing one of its two wrap around feet and the other was in pitiful shape. I removed that and added 4 clear rubber "furniture-saver" feet as an interin measure. It looks ok, and I just may leave them. Pretty good little runner for the price.

Add'l: Scanning through a few threads on the board, I see info. that Baduf was open until 1945; if true, 1930's to 40's is feasible. I feel sure Zep will zap me if I am in error.

The style of the hands would seem to date it to around 1950 I'd think. Nice clock!

Scottie/Peter: I see what you mean. Thanks for the input. So, perhaps Baduf manufactured after 1945, or a marriage, or a style anticipating the later styles? Dunno, but the info is appreciated!

To answer my own question (perhaps), similar hand styles and case styles are seen on Seth Thomas clocks from the early 1940's; so 1941-45 might just fit for this clock.
