Arrow Mini-Review: 2009 Yearbook of Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Chronometrie

2009 Yearbook of Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Chronometrie

The German "sister organisation" of the NAWWCC bublishes a quarterly newsletter, called 'Mitteilungen der DGC' with assoation news and reports on presentations at Chapter events, but their scholarly papers are oublished only once a year in a hardcover 'Yearbook'. The 2009 issue has 160 pages, and features 13 in-depth, illustrated articles. There are x articles on mechanical clocks: a) on watchman control clocks, b) on clocks inside north German churches, c) the description of a complex Swedish astronomical clock and d) an article on the theoey of compound pendulums. There is one article each on wristwatches (the history of the LACO brand)and pocket watches (the history of E.Howard. There are three articles describing specific historic towerclocks, and one about a maker of electricl clocks ( C.T.Wagner). There are three articles aobout sundials. Both the 'Mitteilungen' and the 'Jahrbuch' are published only in German, and are available only to members. Website: www.dg-chrono.de
